Must Read

Jewellery retail chain Damas has launched its eStore on Rediff (http://damas.rediff.com) and Indiatimes shopping.

According to Anaggh Desai, CEO – Damas India, “Jewellery is no longer confined to swanky retail stores where customer peeks through the window and gets mesmerised by the glitter. At Damas eStore, the whole range of our jewellery is right there before you – just at the click of your mouse. You can view the whole range of diamond and gold jewellery in form of rings, earrings, pendants, bracelets and bangles with a user-friendly, easy shopping procedure.”

“India is currently the world’s largest consumer of yellow gold and the third largest in global diamond jewellery, with a huge potential of large population of young women aspiring for branded jewellery with trendy international designs. There has been a substantial increase in online sales of jewellery due to growing preference for branded products and semi-precious items. More and more people are buying online and the key to this is consumer confidence and secure payment network,” he further adds.

“Initially, Damas eStore will specifically sell diamond and gold jewellery, but watches, accessories and other lifestyle products too will be sold over time. In the coming months, we are planning to open eStores on other ecommerce websites as well as launch our own. Currently, we are offering free shipping within India and EMI facility through Rediff and Indiatimes to our online customers. The customers can pay through credit card, cheque, or net banking.”

Established in 1907, Damas now has a network of more than 300 stores across four continents and 16 countries including the United States, Italy, Lebanon, Jordan, Maldives, Turkey, Egypt, India and all the GCC countries. Besides its own branded collections, Damas retails over 100 international brands of jewellery and watches by some of the leading international luxury brands.

In August 2005, Damas launched its Indian flagship store in Bangalore. The company has 12 showrooms at the moment and intends to open 16-plus showrooms by the end of the next financial year.
