DLF Limited, leading real estate developer of India, will set up the country’s largest mall in Gurgaon with nearly 40 lakh square feet of lettable area. Designed by Jerde Partnership Inc., an international firm of architects, the Mall of India will be erected on a 32.87-acre land.
“The size of our malls is increasing due to consumer demand for greater retail diversity and we believe that in the future, size will be an important determinant of the success of a mall,” a DLF official said.
The group, which is going to the capital markets today with a public offer of Rs 9,625 crore, is also bringing up a chain of multiplexes in major cities including Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Ludhiana. DLF has already tied up with Trent, the retail business of Tata Group, to partner across their planned retail formats, occupying a minimum of 150,000 square feet in each mall.
