Coffee retail chain Café Coffee Day, part of the Rs 450-crore Amalgamated Bean Coffee Trading Company, is planning to expand its network overseas by end of 2009.
“We introduced our chain in Pakistan and Vienna in Austria, and the response we got compelled us to think of venturing further, specifically in Europe. Also, having set up a sound back-end supply chain through our outlet in Vienna, we decided to explore other regions that were within two hours’ flying distance from there,” said Simran Sablok, general manager marketing, Café Coffee Day.
The company plans to set up 50 outlets in European countries including Poland, Belgium and Germany. The retail space will be taken on lease, for which the setting-up cost will be derived from internal accruals.
Domestically, the company’s objective is to open 500 outlets in over 100 cities by end of this year. At present, Café Coffee Day is available in 86 cities through 436 outlets.
