UniverCell, a leading mobile retail chain in Tamil Nadu, has opened seven retail outlets in Bangalore. Another 33 are lined up for the state.
“We are in an accelerated expansion phase and it gives us great pleasure to announce that UniverCell will be in different locations in Karnataka by the end of 2007,” said Sathish Babu, managing director, UniverCell.
The new outlets have opened at Indiranagar, Seshadripuram, Malleswaram, Jayanagar and Basavanagudi, with two in Rajajinagar. Hebbal and Koramangala will shortly get one outlet each.
UniverCell sells 40,000 handsets a month and has a customer base of 15 lakh. The company is aiming turnover of Rs 700 crore this fiscal and plans to chart out a pan-India presence over the next two years.
“Volume has been our strength. Because we deal in high volumes, we have relatively higher bargaining power with manufacturers, and offer handsets at an attractive price,” said Babu
Founded in 1997, UniverCell claims to be the first mobile retail chain in India to offer exchange facility, easy instalments, zero-per-cent interest, quick loan approvals and mobile e-shop on www.univercell.in, where customers can search among 300 models, compare between multi-brands, and buy handsets and mobile content.
