RPG Cellucom India Pvt. Ltd has chalked out plans to open 500 retail outlets across the country and 25 in West Bengal alone, by end of 2008. Sanjiv Goenka, vice-chairman, RPG, confirmed these plans while announcing the launch of four RPG Cellucom outlets in Kolkata.
Investments over Rs 100 crore will be made for the expansions.
“The company is hopeful of generating a turnover of Rs 1,000 crore in the fiscal 2008-09. Since we have just started rolling out our retail plans, the impact on revenue will be felt in the financial year 2008-09,” Goenka said.
RPG Cellucom stores will showcase 200 mobility products and 75 models of cellular phones. These will include brands such as Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, HP/Compaq, Toshiba, Lenovo and Acer.
Besides mobile phones, the stores will also offer PDAs, notebooks, mobile enhancements, mobile entertainment, IT accessories and peripherals, and connectivity solutions.
At present, the company has 75 retail stores located in five cities across the country.
