The wines market in India is growing, with global giants coming in even as newer ones are emerging domestically. The latest one to enhance its wine portfolio is Nature’s Bounty Wines and Allied Products Pvt. Ltd (NBWAP). The company has launched three brands of Sicilian wines and tied up with Italian winemaker Calatrasi for this purpose. The brands are Calatrasi Maranfusa, D’istinto and Terre di Ginestra 2002.
“I expect the wine industry to pick up pace and grow even faster than the current rate. As we have seen in other industries, increase in competition leads to high growth because every participant is investing in not only promoting and distributing its products, but also in educating the consumer,” said Amit Burman, chairman, NBWAP.
Burman said, “With the addition of three new brands in the current fiscal, we are expecting a 150 per cent jump over the sales of Rs 2.5 crore in the previous fiscal.”
NBWAP currently has two brands in its portfolio and plans to increase it to four in the coming fiscal. Of this, one will be from established wine-producing countries such as Italy and Spain, while the other will be from emerging wine-producing nations such as Australia and South Africa, Burman informed.
Last year, NBWAP entered the domestic wine distribution and marketing space with the launch of its brand Czarina Creek Wine in four variants.
