Arvind Mills brings Cherokee and US Polo brands — set to launch Izod

Arvind Mills Ltd has entered into an international license agreement with the US fashion brand Cherokee for India operations. The company is also set to launch a US-based brand named Izod.

“Arvind Mills has signed a multi-year pact with the US-based brand Cherokee for India operations. The company will soon announce the retail plans and strategies for Cherokee in the country,” Vipul Mathur, head communications & events, VF Arvind Brands Private Limited, told Indiaretailing. The company plans to have standalone Cherokee stores and a wide retail presence through their Megamart store division.

Recently, US Polo Association also announced a licensing agreement with the company to design and distribute Polo branded sportswear and accessories, as well as to develop US Polo Association brand flagship stores in India.

When quizzed about the launching of US Polo and Izod brands, Mathur informed: “The US Polo deal is also through and you can expect the official launch of the brand anytime. Izod deal has not been finalised.” According to sources, the company is in advanced talks with the US-based brand Izod and the deal is expected to finalise very soon.

Izod, from the Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation stable, is known for its sports-inspired, clean designs and colourful product lines, including apparel and accessories for men, women and children, as well as soft home goods. Izod products are sold in over 6,000 retail venues, including department, speciality and company-owned stores worldwide.

US Polo has 35 standalone retail stores and US Polo Assn denim stores with a network of master licensees, direct licensees, and sub-licensees totalling over 60 individual partners. US Polo brand is available in about 6,000 individual retail accounts, including shop-in-shops with key retail partners across the world.

With a presence in major cities of the world, US Polo has turnover in excess of $1 billion across all categories. The brand retails men, women and children’s sportswear, dress clothing and accessories such as socks, neckwear, hats and bags, and small leather goods.
