Three people died and about 30 were injured in a stampede at the French retailer Carrefour-owned supermarket in Chongging city in South-West China on Monday, local reports said.
The incident occurred when a crowd waiting for hours to avail of a promotion on cooking oil rushed into the store as soon as it opened.
In the last year, cooking oil prices in China soared and the supermark was reportedly offering a 20 per cent reduction in the price of rapeseed oil.
