To consolidate its operations across the South, Reliance Retail Ltd has launched four stores of Reliance Fresh at KK Nagar, Satyasai Nagar, AA Road and Anna Nagar in Madurai. With the present launch, the tally of stores in Tamil Nadu rises to 51 and, overall, to 390 across the country.
Another 10 stores have been planned for Madurai, with two of them coming up in December at Doak Nagar and near Padma Theatre, according to N Ramesh, vice president, State Head-Fresh.
B Venkataramana, senior vice president, Human Resources, said: “With this launch, the company becomes the single largest organised retailer in the state, commanding an area of 1,80,000 square feet, with the size of each store varying from 2,000 square feet to 5,000 square feet.”
The commencement of operations recently in Coimbatore and Salem has earned good response, and similar outlets will be opened in major towns across the state soon.
Each store is manned by around 30 trained sales associates and they are covered with statutory benefits. Apart from them, in Madurai, currently 200 are employed in the front-end and indirectly 500 more are employed, Venkataramana added.
