Gautier, the French furniture brand, along with Ebony, the brand’s India partner, opens the first Ebony Gautier, the home adornments store from the duo in Nioda.
Understanding the potential of the home segment, Ebony has chalked out Rs 120 crore expansion plans for Ebony Gautier stores. The company will open 20 stores, sized between 20,000 square feet and 40,000 square feet, in next two years. The first phase of expansions will concentrate on northern India, where other than Noida, four destinations have already been finalised. Soon, the stores will show their presence in cities including Chandigarh and New Delhi.
The duo aims to achieve break-even within the first year of operations.
The SKUs in the store comprise contemporary styled furniture and home furnishing and décor products.
Answering an Indiaretailing query if the retail venture will also provide customised solutions, Lalit Kumar, CEO and director, Ebony, said: “Though we will not offer customised furniture, we shall definitely guide our customer to pick furniture that fits in with the dimensions of the room. The product variety is sufficiently expansive to choose from.”
Asked if the aim of achieving break-even in a year is possible, Kumar answered: “The business of home is on the rise, and backed by the strength of Gautier’s brand name and quality, we will definitely be able to achieve the desired turnover.”
