Suresh D Bhatia quits Major Brands

Suresh D Bhatia, director, Major Brands India, a name that is synonymous with premium fashion brands in the country, has quit Major Brands.

Confirming the news to Indiaretailing, Bhatia said: “Yes, I have quit Major Brands, as I believe that I have accomplished whatever was required of me to do for the company.” However, he did not reveal his future engagements.

Bhatia, the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Sammaan 2006’ awardee, envisioned great potential in the fashion industry of India, and is himself responsible for introducing around a dozen premium fashion brands in the country.

Bhatia started his career with garment exporter Gokuldas Images, Bengaluru, where he helped make Weekender an international brand.

In the Middle East, during his stint with Landmark, he was instrumental in expansion of a blue chip company, Babyshop. He has also handled brands such as Bossini, G-2000, Buster Brown, Peg Perego and Little Tikes at Al Maya Lals Group.

Under his leadership Mango was launched in Mumbai in 2001, and from there to numerous stores of almost a dozen brands, Major Brands has been growing at a considerable pace in India.

Major Brands is the India franchisee of various fashion and lifestyle brands including Nine West, Aldo, Charles & Keith, Bally, Promod, and La Senza.
