DB Realty, the Mumbai-based real estate developer, claims to be developing India’s biggest mall with over 2.5 million square feet at Dahisar, north Mumbai.
Called the Orchid Ozone, the mall is being developed with an investment of around $175 million (Rs 700 crore), the company said in a release. Besides, the mall will have a 20-screen multiplex, a 125-room boutique hotel, and a 50,000-square-foot kids’ playing area.
Asif Balwa, director, DB Realty, said: “As current retail formats within cities become cluttered, urban families will want to explore ‘on-the-periphery’ suburbs to experience a global lifestyle destination. Keeping this shift in mind, we have designed the Orchid Ozone Mall at Dahisar.”
The project is scheduled to be ready by the end of the last quarter of 2009. Currently, the company operates four malls in Mumbai and is planning to develop another mall named Orchid Suburbia at Kandivali.
