RPG Group, the company which runs the Spencer’s Retail outlet, is planning to introduce global brands in India.
Announcing plans, CESC vice chairman Sanjiv Goenka said: “We will soon announce a few tie-ups with foreign brands for both single standalone retail chains and in-house shops in Spencer’s.” Spencer’s Retail Ltd is now a part of private power utility, CESC Ltd.
Goenka declined to provide details of the tie-ups saying, “It will be announced when we sign the agreement.” However, according to sources close to the developments, tie-ups with coffee and apparel brands might be on the cards.
The company’s retail revenue during 2007-08 was over Rs 1,000 crore, and it aims to increase it to Rs 1,800 crore in 2008-09.
