New York-based cosmetics retailing chain Estèe Lauder is planning to enter the Indian retail market by opening its standalone stores across the country.
The company, which is opening the first of its four freestanding stores in Mumbai, plans to tap the Bengaluru and Delhi markets over the next six months. It will open 20 outlets over the next three years as it expands into Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune.
Speaking to media, John Demsey, group president, The Estèe Lauder Companies, said, “The time is right to bring Estèe Lauder to India. Many Indian women are already aware of Estèe Lauder, and we are thrilled to bring them their brand of choice, and introduce the brand to a whole new generation of women. I am confident that Estèe Lauder will be a huge success in India.”
All stores in the country, he said, will feature the brand’s bestselling global products as well as products chosen specifically for Indian consumers.
