The music and entertainment retailing arm of the RPG Group, Music World, has tied up with global giant Apple, Inc. to sell the latter’s products through a first-ever store-in-store format.
Music World will also be completely redesigning its stores, increasing product depth, and adding new merchandise to cover a huge range of personal entertainment products.
Speaking to Indiaretailing, Subrata Chowdhury, president, Books & Beyond and Music World, said, “One has to look beyond selling just music and video, which is what we are doing now. The new touch-and-feel look of the stores will also ensure room for close to 20 per cent more products on the shelves. This new change, visible from mid-July, is an initiative to offer consumers complete personal entertainment options.”
“We are also in the process of tying up with various brands for selling their shirts and party wear through Music World stores. This new area of operations and product extension is looking promising to us; we believe this is the right time to innovate our format.”
The redesigned stores will also house LCD screens, and showcase Music World’s new range of entertainment products. The company will add another 50-odd stores by the year-end, taking their count to close to 300. This will also augment the chain’s total retail space to 118,000 square feet from the present 79,600 square feet.
