To cater to the trained manpower requirements of the textile industry in India, Institute of Apparel Management (IAM), in association with AEPC (Apparel Export Promotion Council), sponsored by ministry of textiles, government of India, has announced post-graduate and under-graduate programmes to be commenced from August 2008.
The PG programmes include:
— Apparel Marketing and Merchandising (18 months, full-time)
— Entrepreneurship Programme for Apparel Industry (18 months, full-time)
— Apparel Export Merchandising (1 year, full-time)
— Apparel Retail Merchandising and Store Operations (1 year, full-time)
For the UG programme, the institute has tied up with Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Australia. In this, students will be offered Fashion and Textiles Merchandising – Bachelor of Applied Science (2+1 year, full-time UG Programme).
A graduate in any discipline or a holder of a three-year recognised diploma (after 10+2) is eligible for the post-graduate programme, while for the under-graduate programme a candidate should be 10+2 in any discipline from a recognised board of education.
For summer placements, the institute has tied up with various fashion and apparel companies including Bharti, Big Bazaar, Blackberrys, Benetton, Ebony, Fusion, Impulse, ITC, Lacoste, Lifestyle, Marks & Spencer, Maya Exports, Modelama, Nee Tee Clothing, Orient Craft, Pantaloon, Pee Empro, Reliance, Technopak, Triburg, and Vishal Retail.
The institute has also initiated partnerships and training agreements with international institutes in fashion and apparel management including Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia; Nottingham Trent University, UK; Manchester Metropolitan University, UK; LDT, Nagold, Germany; Lasalle College of Arts, Singapore; and London College of Fashion, UK.
