Reliance Retail Limited (RRL) has announced that it will form a joint venture with UK-based supply chain specialist Wincanton, which will manage the backend of its food, supermarket and hypermarket businesses. Reliance said the synergies from the venture will enable it to efficiently run its back-end operations.
Wincanton, a $ four billion supply chain solution provider, is expected to completely take over the supply chain, find the right warehouses for goods and then transport them in correct order to Reliance Retail stores.
According to RRL, this move is in sync with the company’s plans to strengthen its supply chain management. Reliance Retail had recently tied up front end joint ventures with numerous foreign companies including Pearle Europe, Hamleys, and Marks & Spencer.
