Max Retail, part of Dubai-based Landmark Group, has planned to open 27 stores in tier I and II cities by March 2009, and will invest around Rs 5 crore for each store.
Explaining the format of the stores, Shekar CS, vice-president operations, Max Retail, said, “For tier II cities, each store will be spread over an area of 8,500 to 10,000 square feet, which will be 10,000 to15,000 square feet for tier I cities.”
“Most of the stores will come up in malls as high streets are not viable in terms of the cost factor,” he added.
Max Retail is now focusing on Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi and Bhopal and will also include apparel in its outlets, besides footwear and home furnishings.
