The textile division of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has found new ground for exporting their ready-to-wear (RTW) apparel ranges, and as part of it, will supply private labels to global retail chains.
Speaking to media regarding this development, Anand Parekh, president, RIL textile, said, “We are in the business of supplying fabric to several international brands such as Marks & Spencer and now it is an opportunity to be the sourcing partner of their RTW apparels that include men’s trousers, suits and jackets.”
“We have recently signed a series of such deals with retailers in the US and UK,” he added.
According to Parekh, RIL is currently generating around 50 per cent of its revenue from exports and plans to emerge as the category leader in the menswear segment in two years, up from its 15 per cent share in the domestic market. It also plans to venture into the women’s RTW segment soon.
