Petrol and diesel consumers of India once again got the country’s opposition party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),on their side when the latter demanded a price reduction in the retail prices of petrol and diesel with immediate effect by Rs five and Rs three respectively.
Speaking to media, Prakash Javadekar, spokesperson, BJP said: “BJP demands that the government should immediately lower the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs five and Rs three respectively, as the international prices of crude oil have fallen down from USD 140 to USD105 per barrel for the past two weeks.”
According to him, the government had increased oil prices due to the increase of crude oil in the international market a few months ago and now that the global prices have fallen down, the benefit should be passed on to consumers.
