Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), the body engaged in managing Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in the national capital has been learnt to invite global retail brands to open stores in its upcoming T3 international terminal.
At present around 800 square metres of duty free retail space is available to DIAL and in the next one month, it plans to manage around 20,000 square metres of retail space in the terminal, according to a source close to the development.
Meanwhile, over 400 global brands have already expressed their interest in obtaining a retail outlet at the airport. The bidding for this space is expected sometime later next year, added a source.
Currently, the Alpha Pantaloon Consortium, a consortium of India’s premiere retailer Pantaloon Retail (India) Ltd and UK-based Alpha Airports Group is operational in the T2 terminal that offers brands including Armani, Gucci, Christian Dior, Calvin Klein, Nike and Swatch.
