UK-based grocery retailer Tesco has installed Tesco Direct desks in 19 Tesco Metro stores. Further, the company plans to roll them out in all its stores if the project turns successful, according to company spokesperson.
He further said, the company found the concept very popular in large format stores and plan to implement in smaller formats also. “Having the Direct desks in Metro stores allows us to get our non-food offer right into the heart of neighbourhoods and if we can do that without impacting the space needed for grocery in those stores then that would be a good way of expanding our offer,” said the spokesperson of the company.
Tesco Direct offers products in segments including consumer durables, home furnishing and toys and currently the company runs 233 stores with Direct desks.
