To set the perfect stage for leading and upcoming beauty brands to leverage the tremendous business environment, the first day of India Fashion Forum 2009 (IFF ’09) saw the launch of the India Beauty Forum: The Business of Beauty – CEO’S Conclave.
Anchored by Nitin Passi, Lotus Herbal, the panel unanimously agreed on the need for greater awareness around beauty in India by targeting sustainability, trust, creditability and investment on a long term basis. As Indian consumer is price-sensitive and digs for value-for-money, the panel discussed that the companies should try to understand the market while foraying into with a sharp understanding of the consumer mindset.
After concurrent talk sessions, the honchos came to a coclusion that beauty business in India needs to be addressed in a closed door environment since it is an emerging market. Further, the panel concluded that the beauty industry needs accreditation so as to remove the stigma attached with beauty as a career choice.
The panel comprised of major stakeholders in beauty, hair care and cosmetics businesses including Rohan Vaziralli, Estee Lauder, Nitin Kalwani, Headrush Marketing, Rathedra Narayan Bhaduri, Schwarzkopf Professional and Zoeb Konorwalla, Gujarat Glass.
