Leading liquor distribution company Kyndal India will take the financial joint venture route to launch key foreign brands in the category, reports Business Line. The company’s managing director, Siddharth Banerji, quoted in the report that the company will enter into JVs depending on the strength of the international brand. He said his company will also distribute the brands in West Asia and South East Asia.
The first off the block is the joint venture with the Dutch company, Lucas Bols BV, through which it has launched Bols brandy in India. Bols brandy, known as the oldest brandy brand in the world, is being bottled at Netravathi Distillery near Bangalore making it the first global brandy brand to be bottled in India.
The liquor brand has been positioned in the premium category, which is a relatively new segment among brandy brands. The size of the brandy market is around 30 million cases with over 80 per cent of the market being in south India.
