New Delhi-based upmarket restaurant chain Punjabi By Nature is planning to foray into the international market. The company plans to open its first overseas outlet in the UK by the end of March 2010, in addition to scouting properties in Dubai and the US. Further, the company also aims to expand in domestic presence. The company plans to launch its outlet in Bengaluru and other tier I cities by next fiscal, according to a top company official.
Talking to IndiaRetailing, Ankur Shukla, general manager (operations), Punjabi By Nature said, “We are at advanced stages of preparation for setting up our first restaurant in the UK. We are exploring a couple of offers for properties there and hope to start operations during 2009-10 fiscal.”
However, he remained tight lipped to divulge the company’s investment on the overseas expansion.
“We are also exploring the market in Dubai and the US, although our plans for these two countries are still at an initial stage,” added Shukla.
Further, Punjabi By Nature is also seeking to increase its footprints in the domestic market and aims to tap the metros and tier I cities. “Our next restaurant in India would come up in Bangalore in the next fiscal. Besides, we are also looking at the Kolkata and Pune markets,” said Shukla.
When asked about the company’s sales target, Shukla stated, “Last year we clocked a turnover of Rs 200 million and are now aiming to double it to Rs 400 million by 2010-11.”
The restaurant chain specialises in North Indian delicacies and has currently five restaurants in Delhi NCR and Hyderabad.
