In another step forward, Gurgaon-based multiplex operator PVR Ltd has opened a first of its kind outdoor entertainment zone bowling alley centre in Ambience Mall, Gurgaon. Branded Blu-O, the zone features 24 bowling lanes and cuisine lounge including two platinum lounges for private dining. Further, the company plans to add two more alleys and open 50 more screens with a proposed investment of around Rs 1 billion in the fiscal year 2009-10, according to a company press release.
Ajay Bijli, MD, PVR Ltd, said, “We will expand bowling alleys to major metros including Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Pune in the first phase. We will open over 20 alleys in each location and plan to open 400-500 bowling alleys across metro cities in the next five years.”
As part of the plan, Blu-O has tied up with companies like ITC for opening a smoking lounge, Xbox for a live gaming lounge and PepsiCo for a Youngistaan bar. Apart from these, Blu-O will also house Tattoo Walla for a Tattoo Studio and pro-shop.
Blu-O is part of PVR BluO Entertainment Ltd — a 51:49 JV between PVR Ltd and Major Cineplex Group of Thailand.
