Bharti Wal-Mart partners Cadbury to strengthen CSR activities

As part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, Bharti Wal-Mart has announced the launch of their associate volunteer program in India. Appropriately, Bharti Wal-Mart, in partnership with Cadbury India, will participate in improving the infrastructure of a government school for underprivileged children in Gurgaon and will provide safe and clean facilities to create an environment conducive to learning for the 80 children enrolled in the school, according to a company press release.

Raj Jain, president, Wal-Mart, said, “At Bharti-Wal-Mart, we believe in a philosophy of operating globally and giving back locally. This grassroots development program has helped bring positive change to so many US communities, and I am delighted our associates in India now have the same opportunity to give back.:

“Our project in Gurgaon demonstrates our commitment as a company to education and vocational training, which we believe are the cornerstones to India’s development. We believe it is our responsibility to help sustain the communities that rely upon us.”

On Cadbury’s association, Anand Kripalu, president, Cadbury Asia, said, “Cadbury has always partnered organisations to create prosperous, educated, inclusive and healthy communities across the globe. We are happy to partner with Bharti Wal-Mart in this global initiative that will help build a conducive learning environment for bright young minds and contribute to their success.”

As part of its philosophy, Bharti Wal-Mart has adopted four Satya Bharti Schools for under privileged children in Amritsar in India, added the release.
