In sync with company’s aggressive expansion plan, Big Bazaar, the hyper market format of Kishore Biyani-led Future Group, has planned to open three stores in the next month. The proposed stores will be launched in Karad, Nashik and Kanpur, informed a top company official.
Speaking to IndiaRetailing, Rajan Malhotra, president – retail strategy, Future Group, said, “In the month of May, we are opening three new Big Bazaar stores, one each in Karad, Nashik and Kanpur.”
“Karad is a small city in Maharastra and the store will be opened in a stand alone property. Spread over 21,000 square feet, the proposed store would be the first Big Bazaar store in the city. While the store at Nashik is of around 40,000 square feet size and the third Big Bazaar store in the city, the store at Kanpur is the second store of the brand spread over 38,000 square feet and will be opened sometimes in the third week of May,” elaborated Malhotra.
Speaking about the prospect of Big Bazaar store in Kanpur and the performance of their existing store, Malhotra further explained that Kanpur is a large town with a good consumption and has enough potential. “Kanpur has the highest numbers of self employed people and this is the uniqueness of the city. Kanpur as a city can take another store and eventually we will have three stores there,” concluded Malhotra.
