Anchor to market lighting systems for industrial use

Must Read

From the next year, Anchor Electrical, the Indian subsidiary of Japan’s Panasonic Electric Works (PEW), is to market integrated automated safety, fire and lighting systems for industrial use, according to its Business Head (Wiring Services), Dinesh Agarwal.

The systems would be sourced from its parent company in Japan and sold under the brand name of Panasonic. PEW had nearly 90 per cent share in the segment in Japan, he said.

“The systems would help automatically control safety, light and fire systems in big establishments like hotels, stadiums,” he said, adding that Anchor recently launched a range of integrated lighting control and retail safety products in India. Apart from using its existing 12,000 direct dealer network, the company would also look at tying up with consumer electronics outlets for selling the new products.

Other plans

“We also have plans to launch premium segment switches, fans and an energy-saving range of compact fluorescent lamps as the market matures,” he said, adding that the target was to increase production of switches to six lakhs a day from the present five lakhs.

The company clocked a turnover of Rs 1,085 crore in 2008-09, clocking 11 per cent over last fiscal. However, he said, the slowdown in the real estate constructions bring down the growth rate to 7 per cent in 2009-10.
