Koutons Retail India Ltd, one of India’s leading retail companies, has reported net sales of Rs 1046.68 crore in the financial year 2008-09, a growth of 31.91 per cent as compared to Rs 793.46 crore in the last fiscal, according to a company press release.
The company further stated that net sales for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2009, stood at Rs 377.50 crore as compared to Rs 371.25 crore in corresponding quarter of last fiscal, a marginal increase by 1.68 per cent, while net profit for the quarter stood at Rs 35.84 crore.
Commenting on the achievement, DPS Kohli, chairman, Koutons Retail India Ltd, said, “Despite recessionary trends, Koutons Retail has been instrumental in adding its product line by introducing accessories, innerwear for men and a new range of ultra soft shirts under the brand name ‘Feel Me’ during the last financial year and has been able to exhibit favorable performance. We aimed at creating shopping a family affaire by introducing the concept of ‘Family Stores’ this year.”
The company started its operation in India over 17 years ago as garment manufacturer and turned to retailer in 2002. Koutons Retail currently operates 1,400 outlets across India.
