The Chennai-based FMCG major CavinKare has forayed into the restaurant business under the brand ‘CK’s Foodstaurant’. It opened its first outlet in Puducherry recently.
Positioned as Indo-American restaurant, the 2,000-square feet outlet has 90 covers and will serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.
Besides dishing out popular south Indian cuisine, it will also offer some innovative dishes that will pamper the taste buds of food lovers.
“We have also taken utmost care to ensure that utensils do not mix up with each other by setting up two separate kitchens to prepare vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items, and accorded top priority to hygiene,” said CK Ranganathan, CMD, CavinKare group.
The company has invested close to Rs 75 lakh in the venture. Depending on the success of the pilot project, the company will open more outlets in small cities. “We will open a good number of outlets in tier-I and tier-II cities in the months to come,” he added.
Ranganathan said that CavinKare’s recent venture into the snacks and beverage segment proved to be very successful. “We would replicate it in this venture too.”
CavinKare, a Rs 700-crore private limited company, has presence in personal care, food and beverages, and international business with diversified product portfolio, and has established a firm foothold in the national market.
