Entertainment major Cinemax has opened a four-screen multiplex in Ahmedabad. Located at Road Rash Go Karting, SG Highway, this newly launched theatre is the second property of the chain in the city. With this launch, the company currently operates 78 screens across 25 properties in India.
Speaking to IndiaRetailing, Devang Champat, senior vice president, Cinemax, said, “The city has huge potential for entertainment retailers and we plan to open another three-screen cinema in the city in the next couple of months.”
Elaborating the expansion plan, Champat further added that by the end of March 2010, the company plan to add 10 more properties with 50 additional screens. “We targets 35 properties by the end of March 2010 and will open 50 new screens pan-India in cities including Boroda, Pune, Bengaluru. We will open two-screen Boroda property in the next couple of months.”
The company currently operates 19 screens in Gujarat across five properties, which are operational in areas including Rajpur, Gandhinagar, Himmatnagar and Ahmedabad.
