The New Delhi-based Grand Slam, one of the market leaders in high end fitness equipment, is planning to set up 30 more franchisee stores in tier II and III cities across India by January 2010.
Currently, it has 65 stores throughout the country. By 2011-12, about 400 franchise stores would be opened in all districts in the country, Raman Sood, managing director, Grand Slam said. The company, with a turnover of Rs 30 crore in the last fiscal, is aiming to double it by the year end, he said.
In Kerala, Grand Slam presently has five franchisee stores and will add three more in a month’s time. It recorded a sales turnover of Rs 10 lakh a month and within 3-6 months, it is expected to double. The growth is going to come from small towns and cities, he said adding a dealer in the remote hilly district of Idukki, was doing a business of Rs 2.5 lakh per month.
Grand Slam is also keen to increase its existing presence in retail hypermarket stores with shop-in-shop concept. The company has entered into tie-ups with some known retail players like Big Bazar, Reliance, Aditya Birla group for making available their products at the consumer doorstep. Already four stores have been opened, including at Indore and Aurangabad and 16 more would be opened in next 3 months, he said.
