Domino’s India, one of the leading quick-service restaurant chains, is in the process of completing the opening up of 70 new outlets within the present financial year.
The company has already opened up 35 outlets and would complete setting up the rest of them by March 2010. Domino’s India would also recruit close to 1,800 new employees for their new outlets to cater to the consumers.
“We have not seen any downfall in the number of customers in past one year. Our new products such as the pizzas at Rs 35 have actually helped in boosting sales,” says Dev Amritesh, senior vice-president, Domino’s India.
“For each of our stores, we need around 20 to 25 people. And we have already set up 35 outlets and have hired more than 600 people to staff our requirements. Even as the Ramzaan and Navratri month is underway, we do not expect any significant fall in sales,” says Amritesh.
The company is also planning to open up smaller outlets in the county. “We are keen to experiment with various global formats of the chain. One option is small-format restaurants for walk-in crowds in high footfall zones such as malls,” says Amritesh.
Domino’s at present has 275 restaurants across the country with an average size of 1,200 sq ft each. While 70 per cent of the company’s sales come from home delivery, the rest 30 per cent is over-the-counter sales.
