NCR introduces next-gen technologies

NCR Corporation, a global technology solution provider company, has launched self-service and assisted-service technology solutions to help India’s retailers meet their growing business pressures.

NCR offers the industry’s broadest portfolio of assisted-service solutions for the point of sale (POS). These solutions include POS workstations to operate in any retail or food service operation, bar code scanners, thermal receipt printers and other POS peripheral devices.

Navroze Dastur, GM (Channels), NCR India, said, “Our mission is to enable the Indian general retail segment to respond faster to customer needs with solutions that enhance customer interactions, relationships and satisfaction. Indian retailers are sure to benefit from the wide portfolio of NCR retail technologies to meet rising expectations of today’s consumers for more speed, control and convenience.”

Some of the key solutions, which NCR is introducing in India include NCR RealPOS 21, NCR RealPOS 30, NCR RealPOS 70XRT and NCR RealPOS 80XRT. According to the company, the prices would be kept competitive.

“Our target customers are large and small format retail stores. We intend to leverage our global partnerships that we currently have with big retailers such as Tesco, Wal-Mart, KFC, Coles, Macys etc to name a few, whenever they plan their official entry in India,” stated Dastur.

Also being introduced is the NCR SelfServ line of multifunction self-service kiosks that enable a wide range of applications from order placement to bill payment, promotional information etc. The kiosks can be installed anywhere: a tabletop, shelf, pole, wall or pedestal.

A recent study conducted by BuzzBack Market Research, on behalf of NCR, indicated that 93 percent of Indian respondents are more likely to shop with a retailer that gives them flexibility to interact easily via online, mobile and kiosk self-service channels. Eighty percent of survey respondents from India said that the availability of self-service technologies created a more positive perception of the deployer’s brands. Dastur added, “These research findings confirm that self-service is a growing phenomenon in India, driven by consumers who are looking for greater speed, convenience and flexibility in managing their interactions with companies. NCR’s retail self-service solutions are designed to help companies interact, transact, and connect with customers in new ways.”
