In a recent development, financial news provider, Thomson Reuters, has tied-up with Future Group’s Aadhar Retailing Ltd (ARL) to tap India’s huge farming community by providing mobile updates on agricultural news and crop advisory.
Reuters Market Light (RML) will sell its direct scratch cards through all Aadhar outlets in key states such as Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. RML provides personalised and customised, decision critical agricultural information to farmers mobile phones through text messages in local language, with an aim to maximise their productivity and income.
“Teaming up with Future Group’s ARL will add momentum and help us scale-up our footprint in key states in a very rapid and systematic manner. This tie-up is a major step to reaching millions of farmers through the agri-input consumption route,” Reuters Market Light’s managing director, Amit Mehra, said in a press release.
RML Direct Cards will be available for durations of three, six and twelve months ranging from Rs260 to Rs850. Farmers can activate their RML service using a RML direct scratch card.
Each subscriber can create his personalised service comprising of localised weather updates, crop advisory, agricultural rural news and market prices in 11 states, from a wide menu of 250 crops and 1,200 local and national markets in the language of their choice.
