Max Hypermarket India Pvt. Ltd., part of the Dubai-based Landmark Group, is set to open its flagship Spar store in Bangalore at Mantri Square mall on March 15.
Talking exclusively to IndiaRetailing, Viney Singh, MD, Max Hypermarket India Pvt Ltd says, “We have agreed to open our flagship store at Mantri Square mall following an agreement of revenue sharing with the real estate developer. The store is spread across 90,000 square feet.” The investment in opening this flagship store is Rs.15 crores, according to Singh.
The hypermarket will have four exclusive travelators, 15,000 square feet of fresh food area, 2,000-plus parking for cars, 400-plus trained staff, 1000 plus ‘Best Deal’ and Every Day Low Prices’ offers, 1,000 plus shopping trolleys and 53 billing counters. The single-floor store will merchandise 50,000-plus products and also houses a live bakery.
Singh further reveals, “Our upcoming stores will be located in Mangalore, Mysore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Pune, Delhi, Hyderabad and Gurgaon. A total of five stores are set to open in 2010. We are planning another 25 stores in the next three years with a tentative investment of Rs.400 crores.”
With the new outlet, Spar will now have four stores in India including two stores in Bangalore and one in Hyderabad, occupying a total retail space of 212,500 square feet.
