Must Read

SUPERVALU Inc has announced a new role for David Boehnen, executive vice-president, with effect from December 15, 2010. Boehnen will no longer be a SUPERVALU officer, but will continue to consult for SUPERVALU as a senior counsellor to Craig Herkert, SUPERVALU’S chief executive officer and president, for a year.

“Dave (David Boehnen) has made many contributions to SUPERVALU in leading the legal function as well as real estate and corporate developments that have shaped who SUPERVALU is today,” said Herkert. “I have personally appreciated his advice and counsel during my first 18 months with SUPERVALU and look forward to continuing to work with Dave in his new capacity and sincerely thank him for his years of service.”

During his 20-year tenure with SUPERVALU, Boehnen has been responsible for legal, business development, real estate and store development, as well as government affairs. He has served as an important advisor to the CEO and the board of directors on a number of significant issues and opportunities that have influenced the company’s growth.

“I have had a close relationship with SUPERVALU extending for many years, even before I joined the company in early 1991. I will reflect on it fondly as I move into the next phase of my career,” said Boehnen. “While I will no longer be involved in day-to-day activities of the company, I look forward to working with Craig and the management team in my new capacity.”

With Boehnen’s new role, Todd Sheldon, group vice-president, legal, will be promoted to senior vice-president and general counsel, reporting to Andy Herring, executive vice-president of real estate, market development and legal.
