On the World AIDS Day, L’Oréal Professionnel Products division has further reinforce its education programme called ‘Hairdressers against AIDS.’ L’Oréal Corporate Foundation along with UNESCO in 2005 had combined forces to promote awareness among the global hairdressing community about the prevention of HIV. They initiated a training module that is now also a part of the hairdressers’ curriculum in L’Oréal Professionnel Products’ training centres throughout the world.
The basic premise of the programme is to leverage on the client-hairdresser relationship to spread a one-one-one awareness about AIDS.
With a strong network of educators and professional salons in 30 countries around the world, L’Oreal Professionnel is in the process of increasing the scale of the programme. One of the key expansion plans is to launch a “Hairdressers against AIDS” Celebrity Calendar in 2011. This calendar will be available in 20 countries in salons, which are “partners” of the programme, and will further help hairdressers engage in a dialogues on the topic with customers at salon level. Today, the programme has also been launched in the US.
