Bata India, footwear retailer, is all set to embark on the next growth phase. Marcelo Villagran, MD, Bata India informs that the brand will now be opening 70 stores every year for the next four-five years.
“The new stores will be a mix of large format (4,000 sq.ft and above) and smaller outlets. Currently, Bata has 180 large-format stores. The new stores will be company-owned,” he informs.
The brand also unveiled its large format in NCR at Shipra Mall, Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, today. The 27th flagship store in the region is spread over 4,400 sq.ft and is touted as Bata’s largest store in the NCR. Bata is also closing the stores, which occupies less than 1,000 sq.ft retail space.
Bata has opened 82 new stores so far in 2010. The footwear retailer has over 1,200 stores in India and plans to increase its store density in tier II and III markets across the country.
