Women’s wear brand ‘W’ is on an expansion drive and plans to open at least 100 new stores by the end of FY 2011-12. The brand, owned by Delhi-based TCNS Clothing Company, currently has 60 exclusive stores across 25 Indian cities.
“We are targeting to open 100 stores before the end of the next fiscal. The plan is to more than double our retail footprint. Apart from strengthening presence in tier I markets, we are looking aggressively at establishing presence across key tier II markets. As for other smaller towns, we are experimenting with a couple of locations and based on the response, we would chart out the next phase of expansion across this segment,” says Anant Daga, CEO of ‘W’.
The expansion drive has already begun with W opening 20 new stores in the last quarter alone and doubling its retail footprint in 2010. Besides focusing on opening new stores in tier I cities such as Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, ‘W’ has ventured into tier II and III markets such as Jalandhar, Meerut, Bhopal, Coimbatore and Kanpur.
Daga adds, “The relevance of fashion that W offers breaks all market barriers and we have witnessed huge successes not only in metros but in smaller towns as well. We believe that with their share of fashion forward audience, tier II and III markets promise to be a great destination for the brand to extend its experience.”
