Set to invest Rs 400 crore in India, Amway plans to set up a manufacturing unit, open more offices and improve their infrastructure here. Fifty percent of the investment has been earmarked for its very first manufacturing unit in India. Estimating a 100 percent jump in sales figures, the manufacturing unit being set up in India is meant to supplement the existing inventory supplied by seven different contract manufacturers. They have the current capacity to meet a sales figure of Rs 3,000 crores. The idea is to be able to keep up with the demand when the figure doubles. Apart from the manufacturing unit, they planning to add to their existing infrastructure here by opening up 10 to 15 additional customer care centers across the country, in addition to the existing 10 customer care centers and 135 offices.
