UK’s leading food retailer Waitrose will soon open five stores in Channel Islands (located between southern Great Britain and northern France).
While three of these will be opened in Jersey, the other two will come up in Guernsey. The first Channel Islands store, spread over an area of 21,000 sq.ft, will open at St Saviour, Jersey, on February 17. Four further openings are planned in Rohais, Guernsey, on March 10; St Helier, Jersey, on March 17; Admiral Park, Guernsey, on April 7; and Red Houses, Jersey, on April 14.
To comply with the local accounting, legal and regulatory requirements, Waitrose has established two new operating companies in Channel Islands – Waitrose Jersey Ltd and Waitrose Guernsey Ltd.
A total of 600 people in Channel Islands will be joining the Waitrose business as partners within the John Lewis Partnership.
Mark Price, managing director, Waitrose, says, “We are thrilled to be opening in Channel Islands. These branch openings support our ambition of taking the Waitrose brand to more people in more places and the investment we have made in systems and structures gives us a platform for future international growth.”
