Düsseldorf-based Henkel AG’s Schwarzkopf haircare brand asked the multitasking German designer to envision a pop-up concept for the heart of its hometown — intended to attract locals, visitors and stylistas alike, in upcoming Eurovision Song Contest.
It will be called Schwarzkopf Lightbox by Karl Lagerfeld, the three-story salon, cafe and shop opens April 16. It will offer hair color, care and styling workshops, as well as events with music and well-known stylists. The venue will stay put for four weeks; later this year it will make stops in Milan and Paris.
For the requisite touch of glamour, the outer walls of the Lightbox will be decorated with silhouettes of models including Coco Rocha, Charlott Cordes and Lagerfeld fave Baptiste Giabiconi. The designer’s own image will greet guests from the top spot, of course.
