Canon India, which entered the retail sector in November last year, has expanded its footprint with the launch of its branded store, ‘Canon Image Square’, in Mumbai. The new outlet, which has a franchise model, is Canon’s first branded store in Mumbai and second in the western region. In all, there are seven Image Squares in the country.
Speaking at the launch, Kensaku Konishi, president & CEO, Canon India, said, “It is a moment of pride for us to launch our first store in Mumbai. The store will offer solutions for customers seeking high-end photography and printing solutions where both click and print products from Canon will be available. This is a unique concept that would help Brand Canon enjoy greater visibility and get closer to customers.”
Canon plans to open 100 such stores across major metros and non-metros in 2011 and increase the number of stores to 300 across 150 tier II and III cities by 2013. The company expects a revenue of Rs.30 lakh per store, per month from its outlets.
The company says the area covered by each outlet would vary from a minimum of 800 sq.ft to a maximum of 1,300 sq.ft. The existing Canon Image Squares currently enjoy an average monthly footfall of 6,000 to 10,000 per store. The outlets showcase a wide range of consumer products including cameras, camcorders, photo printers, D-SLRs and lenses, inkjet printers, entry-level laser printers, consumables and accessories. Each store has over 80 SKUs on display.
