Countdown begins for IRF 2011, India’s biggest retail event

IMAGES Group-organised India Retail Forum (IRF) 2011, to be held on September 21-22 in Mumbai, will see the world’s top retailers and professionals brainstorming to explore new avenues of retail.

Bijou Kurien, chairman, IRF 2010, and chief executive, Reliance Retail – Lifestyle, talks about the benefit to attend IRF 2011 and says,"The event will provide an opportunity for any retailer – large or small, to gain from the collective knowledge on display at the conference."

Comparing IRF to other retail events, he says,"In terms of scale IRF is much larger than any other international retail event. The combination of conference, exhibition, awards and events is not something that you will see under one roof in other retail conferences."

Stressing that IRF has emerged as a magnum opus event, he says,"It has evolved into a platform where policy makers and industry captains interact with each other in order to be able to create meaningful discussion. Obviously ideas and thoughts which will help to shape the future of industry get exchanged and some of these fructify into action and policy."

He further adds,"IRF provides a platform where international retailers experience an excellent cross-section of the Indian market. Speeches from leading Indian retailers, panel discussions debating industry trends and opportunities, one-on-one discussion with mall developers and support specialists, help international retailers gain a better understanding of the Indian market. Similarly Indian retailers get an opportunity to improve their knowledge and seek opportunities for collaboration and witness new trends in design, display technology and real estate."

"IRF has achieved a dominant position in the minds and lives of the Indian retail community. Sustaining this, improving upon its performance and making it more relevant to wider section of the retail community will continue to be the goals that IRF will pursue," he concludes.
