Rajeev Gopalakrishnan will take charge as the Managing Director of Bata India on September 30, 2011. He will replace Marceo Villagran who will resign as the Managing Director, Bata Emerging Markets. Villagran has been promoted as the Group Managing Director (overall in-charge) to look after the entire business of Latin America Region.
The Board of Bata Shoe Organization (BSO) has recommended this change in the management with a view to implement the business plans for the next few years in the Bata Group. Gopalakrishnan has been groomed by Villagran during the past seven months and has been working closely with him to ensure continuity and smooth transition for achieving the business plan and goals of Bata India as well as that of BSO.
Gopalakrishnan has worked in the company at different executive levels. He was promoted as the Managing Director of Bata-Thailand and subsequently became the Managing Director of Bata-Bangladesh.
