Phoenix Marketcity, Mumbai to open its doors on Nov 17, 2011

Phoenix Marketcity at Kurla, Mumbai will become operational on November 17, 2011. Developed by Offbeat Developers and spread across four floors, the gross leasable area of the mall is approximately 1.32 mn sq.ft. The project will house both national and international brands.

Initially, the expected footfall for the development is 5 lakh people per month. However, once it establishes well, the mall expects a footfall of around 10 lakh people per month.

Commenting on the occasion, Shishir Srivastava, Group CEO and Joint Managing Director, Phoenix Mills, said: "We are extremely delighted to introduce Phoenix Marketcity (PMC) mall to Mumbai. Spread over 4 mn sq.ft. (built-up property), the mall boasts of international styling and design with the largest collection of Indian and international brands under one roof. PMC at Kurla is the extension of our vision to cater to all premium lifestyle requisites. A city in itself, PMC will be Mumbai’s new landmark destination for high-end shopping, offering a completely secure, relaxed, and unique mall environment in India.”

Srivastava added: "Currently, around 200 brands have already been confirmed for the mall, out of which some would be the first ever in India/Mumbai. We have Nara Camicie, Rossini, CEX, and Luxury Boulevard to be the first ever stores in India, whereas Kalmane Coffee, L’Occitane, 7 For All Mankind, and BEBE are venturing in Mumbai for the very first time with PMC, Kurla. We have around 26 categories of retails shops, strategically spread throughout the mall to get an excellent retail experience."

He said that PMC will offer a potential platform for F&B partners. It will have more than 50 F&B outlets including coffee shops, pubs, fine dining restaurants, and a food court. A hypermarket of 78,000 sq.ft. having most of the major brands will also be available. The mall will have a total of 23 elevators and 11 restrooms. Around 2,500 four wheelers can be parked in the mall.

PMC has been chosen by Spanish apparel retailer Zara to open its biggest store in India. The mall is also receiving enquiries from several other international brands out of which many have already booked their space.

The catchment areas for the mall include Andheri, Dadar, Wadala, Chembur, Bandra, Santacruz, Ghatkopar, BKC, Saki Naka, and Sion. PMC will also have one of the largest multiplexes in Mumbai with 11 screens.
