Bharti Walmart has opened its first Best Price Modern Wholesale cash-and-carry store in Jammu. Spread over 53,000 sq.ft., the outlet offers over 6,000 items, including fresh, frozen, and chilled foods; fruits; vegetables; dry groceries; personal and home care items; hotel and restaurant supplies; apparels; office supplies; and other general merchandise items. This is the company’s ninth store in Northern India.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajan Bharti Mittal, Chairman, Bharti Walmart, said: “We are delighted to open our first best price store in Jammu and further expand and strengthen our presence in Northern India. The opening of this store will add value to the economy of the state and will also source products locally besides creating direct and indirect employment opportunities for over 600 people.”
Raj Jain, Managing Director and CEO, Bharti Walmart, said that with the opening of the store, the company is happy to start its operations in Jammu. He added "Our store at Jammu will provide kirana stores, small and medium businesses, hotels, restaurants, and institutions the benefit of low prices, convenience, wide variety, good quality, and hygienic products."
Several products in the store, including apples, milk and milk products, rice, baked products, oil, atta, tea, and coffee have been locally sourced.
The outlet will also share practices with small and medium retailers on various aspects including low-cost modern techniques and processes. Bharti Walmart is a joint venture between Bharti Enterprises and Walmart Stores for wholesale, business-to-business, and cash-and-carry operations in India.
