The first day of the event was an eye-opener and an educative one. From the select list of speakers, Rashmi Upadhyay of PwC and Abheek Singhi of Boston Consulting Group kicked off the session with amazing number and figures on how much the beauty India has grown in the last decade. The point that was stressed upon by both was the immense opportunity that India is offering to the world and the potential that it is posing for the beauty industry to grow and expand.
Shahnaz Husain, the first lady in India to promote and propagate Ayurveda in India and abroad, being the Honorary Chief Guest, said that India’s time has come as far as the beauty industry was concerned.
Among the technical sessions that took place, the initiator was Sangeeta Jain, who on behalf of Dr Blossom Kochhar, opened the session. She informed the audience on NHBA (National Hairdressers and Beauticians) role and strength. Latha Mohan, a leading salon owner from Chennai also the president of AIBHA (All India Beauticians and Hairdressers Association), briefly discussed the strength of the body and the tremendous support it has garnered from the industry.
Next came the WAHL Hair Safari with Savio John Pereira, Ashish Christian and Rennee Malek, the brand ambassadors for WAHL India who conducted an amazing Look & Learn seminar wherein to the audience of salon owners and hairstylists they demonstrated how easily the WAHL clipper and other grooming tools could replace the scissor.
Ojas Rajani, the make-up artist par excellence, demonstrated two looks on models for the trend ahead. This was in partnership with Merck’s Colour Projections 2012. Dr Soma Mukherjee, dermatologist, took the audience through the ingredients and their importance.
Streax, the famous hair colour brand, in partnership with Savio John Pereira worked on the hair trends for the year ahead.
Asha Hariharan, the hair and make-up expert, showcased a look that goes through the process of director’s brief and its importance in cinema. Ryan D’rozario and Dhruv Abichandani, ace hairstylists, demonstrated avant garde hair trends for 2012.
The dynamic show ended with Vipul Chudasama, the champion of hair, version of the maids in fairy tales!
